Flânez le long de U Street au cœur historique de la communauté afro-américaine de Washington, jadis repaire du légendaire Duke Ellington, devenu aujourd’hui un quartier branché regorgeant de boutiques, de cafés et de bars lounge. Lorsque vous ferez les boutiques de Georgetown, arrêtez-vous devant Old Stone House sur M Street, la demeure la plus ancienne de Washington.
 

Des musées et des sites historiques à Washington, DC

En dehors des quartiers pittoresques de la ville, les musées de Washington sont assez nombreux pour occuper sans fin les visiteurs. Au Musée National de l’Histoire Américaine de la Smithonian Institution vous aurez l’occasion de voir des emblèmes de la culture pop comme Kermit la Grenouille, la cuisine de Julia Child ou encore les pantoufles magiques que portait Judy Garland dans le Magicien d’Oz. Rendez-vous incognito au Musée International de l’Espionnage, lieu de prédilection des enfants.

Au Théâtre Ford, vous pourrez voir l’endroit où l’on tira sur Abraham Lincoln et, en face, Peterson House, la maison où il s’éteignit le lendemain matin.

Bien sûr, aucun séjour dans la capitale ne serait complet sans la traditionnelle photo devant la Maison Blanche, demeure présidentielle depuis plus de 200 ans.
